Who we are

Danine Cakes is a small cake business based at 4 Ellison Road, Streatham, London SW16 5BY. We are the data controller for the personal information described on this page.

For anything to do with your data, email info@daninecakes.com.

What we collect and why

When you place an order. Your name, email address, phone number, event date, cake details, any design notes or photos you upload, and, if you choose delivery, your postcode. We use this to quote for your cake, make it, and arrange collection or delivery. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract with you, or steps taken at your request before entering one.

When you enquire about a class. Your name, email address and what you tell us about your availability and interests, used to reply to your enquiry.

When you tick the newsletter box. Your name and email address, used to send you our offers, discounts and event news. Our lawful basis is your consent. Ticking the box is entirely optional and never affects your order.

When you browse the site. We use Umami for anonymous, cookie-free visitor statistics. It does not set cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not tell us who you are. We run no advertising or tracking cookies on this site.

Marketing emails

We only send marketing emails to people who have ticked the newsletter box. We record when you consented and the exact wording you agreed to.

Every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also email us at any time and we will remove you. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and does not affect anything we have already sent.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information or share it for anyone else's marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: Vercel (website hosting, and the secure storage where our order and mailing-list records are kept), Resend (sending order and marketing emails) and Gophr (delivery quotes, where you ask for delivery).

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that is the case, the transfer is covered by the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for six years, which is the period we need them for our business and tax records. Class enquiries that do not lead to a booking are kept for one year. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe, and we remove unsubscribed addresses from our mailing list, keeping only enough to make sure we do not email you again by mistake.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent for marketing at any time. Email us and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
